Catawba Valley Brewing Company looked to expand their regional operation with a new distribution center and tasting room on the edge of Biltmore Village in Asheville, NC. The proposed design would have taken advantage of an abandoned building and a challenging site that includes a brownfield, flood hazard area, and restrictive railroad right-of-ways. Due to the height requirements of the brewery and the virtually un-buildable area available, ARCA Design developed a scheme to use the existing Patterson Oil office by lowering the floor, developing exterior and interior walls that are constructed of flood-resistant materials, and upgrading the building envelope.
Part manufacturing/disbtribution, part boutique brewery, this building’s location and industrial aesthetic worked together to further enhance Catawba Valley Brewing’s brand.
